Your beautiful tile flooring awaits!
You've chosen the perfect tile. Now, let the experts handle the rest! At Wacky's Flooring & Lighting, we offer three-year warranties on all installations, guaranteeing total satisfaction during and after the process.
While our experts will handle the hard stuff, it doesn't hurt for you to know what to expect—and a little preparedness on your part will make the entire process go as smoothly and as efficiently as possible.
Steps to prepare for installation
Remove all furniture and other objects from the installation area. Before moving, you’ll also need to empty cabinets, closets, and similar.
Prior to installation day, consider your old flooring. How will you be disposing of it? This can be a time-consuming task, so we recommend contacting us on the best method and related costs. If you do plan to remove your current flooring, do it at least one day prior to the installation to allow for cleanup and floor preparation. If removing old carpet, please leave tack strips in place and pull the staples out of the floor from the original pad.
In many cases, moulding and baseboards need to be removed for tile installation. Painted baseboards, woodwork, and paint may need retouching after the installation is complete. If necessary, this is your responsibility.
Your existing subfloor may need additional preparation, or a new subfloor may be required. We suggest you discuss this with your Wacky's Flooring & Lighting representative. If subfloor work is necessary, it's easily taken care of by our qualified professionals. Remember, it is important that the subfloor be as clean and level as possible.
When tile is installed, there’s always the possibility that doors may not clear the new tile and swing free. Some installers will remove doors in order to install the tile and re-hang them, if possible. You may need to arrange for a qualified carpenter to provide this service after the installation of your new tile flooring. You should check with us regarding our policy on this and the cost.
During and after the installation
Once all the steps above are completed and your subfloor is prepped, our installers will begin the process. They'll trim each individual tile, spreading mortar and grout as they place them. For their own safety, keep children and pets away from the work area until the job is complete.
Once the job is finished, you'll want to avoid walking on your new tile for at least 48 hours. This gives the adhesive sufficient time to cure and solidify.
Tile installation can be noisy, messy, lengthy, and tiring—but the end result is so worth it! And, don't forget about our three-year warranty.
